General Information
Galena, also called lead glance, is the natural mineral form of lead(II) sulfide (PbS). It is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver. Galena is formed in a wide range of hydrothermal environments. It can be found with sphalerite and chalcopyrite in massive sulfide deposits associated with meta-volcanic rocks, such as the Crandon deposit near Rhinelander. It is a component of some pegmatites and granites, as reported in the Wausau region
Metaphysical Traditions
Galena is strongly grounding and moves rapidly into alignment with Mother Gaia. It can be used to create cortices for Earth Healing ceremonies, or for shamanic journeys. It is an ideal stone for journeys to the underworld or otherworld for soul retrieval or to discover answers hidden in the shadowy depths.
